Several people have asked how to capture walk through styles. The normal answer is "you can't create video files from walk through styles, you can only create stand alone applications and/or web pages".

But, suppose you really, really, really want to do this. You've created a nice walk through album, and you want to share it with others, but in a video format. Well, there is a way, if you're willing to use additional software.

All you have to do is to use some sort of screen recording software, such as Camtasia (I used Camtasia to create my How to Videos). Any screen recording software should work.

Start up your screen recording software, and set it to capture a portion of the screen (set it for the preview window). Now start up your 3D-Album software selecting the walk through style with your pictures, etc. Now, start the recording process and use your keyboard arrows to "run" the walkthrough. When you're finished, save your recording to avi or whatever video format you want, and you're ready to go.

You could switch your 3D-Album previw to "full screen" and capture the entire window if you wanted to. Be aware that the video created using this technique may not be as smooth as the video created by CAPTURE. The CAPTURE function in 3D-Album is the best way to create normal video
files, but this does give you a way to create video files of walkthrough styles.

The real-time screen capture is sometimes hard to control. A slip of mouse or a wrong key may cause many uncertain movements. A alternative way to capture walkthrough is to use 3DTime's 3DT Compose template, which provides way to define a precise walkthrough path using key frame timeline.

Thanks Nan. I fully agree with you. I should have mentioned the 3DTime Compose style as the primary alternative. Not only can you fully control it, but you can then create your video file using 3D-Album, which will give you better results then using a screen recorder.

The tip was intended for those that wanted to capture one of the existing 3D-Album walkthrough styles.
