I compiled a largish slideshow using Fade 5 and DVD setting. The compilation worked fine and the resulting .mpg file plays well on the computer. When I try to use Nero 6 to burn the file to my Pioneer 104 I get three messages

Required file VIDEO_TS.IFO is not present
Required file VIDEO_TS.BUP is not present
DVD-Video files compliance test failed

If I ignore the warning and burn the DVD anyway I get a DVD that won't play on any standard DVD player (I tried 3) but can be played on the PC.

My goal is to get a DVD that I can use away from the computer

Any ideas?

Thanks
Bill Dwyer

wdwyer, I'm not knowledgable about this but upon doing a search I found this page:
http://dvd.chevelless230.com/
which explains what the files in question are for... This is for linux not for windows but it at least explains the files...

Another excellent page explaining these files as well as other DVD files:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread/t-77646.html

And, this page explains about nero and those files, apparently nero default does not automatically check off all files you need to rip:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/53014

More stuff:
http://forum.digital-digest.com/archive/topic/25785-1.html

Also, from what I understand using this site:
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/archive/t184902.html
you must burn the DVD in a specific manner, perhaps Nero isn't doing this? Look at your DVD structure and see what it looks like...

I don't use nero so I can't help you much with the program but it's interesting reading... If you get it figured out please let us know (esp. since I've been thinking about getting the program!) so we can learn from your experiences...

I hope I'm not repeating a question here.I see most use Nero,I use Roxio CD & DVD creator 6 Platinum,I tried burning my presentation to DVD and all that burnt was the background music,no pics..I also have DVD wizard pro, that will rip sort whatever I need it to do,but no luck with this either. Is it possible to even burn the 3d-album to DVD without being a professional Sad ? Any direction will be much appreciated..Shann

Very Happy Good News - I got shows burned to DVD - sound and music and I'm a reasonably normal mortal. After capturing the animated show I used the newly downloaded Powerpack for Nero

http://www.nero.com/us/powerpack.html

Showtime program. My error was just using a burn program like you would for CD. Showtime creates the extra stuff you need to make the DVD playable.

Sad Bad News - The resulting DVD is so poor in quality as to be unusable. The animated show looks great when played back on the PC (High-end with high-end graphics card) On the DVD the stills are so-so and the transitions are bloody awful. I gave up after several identical tries and went to a simple show using ULEAD DVD Picture Show. No sexy transitions but easy to time to music. My Mom was impressed with my pictures of Venice to the sounds of Adreas Bocelli and Paolo Conte
