Hello, I recently purchased the Pro Platinum version of 3D album. No sooner than I try to run it, I get a message that the program will now close, and Microsoft will look for a solution. That's as far as I can get. I have a new Windows Vista version. I cannot tell what version the Album is as it loads too fast to read. However, I did the download, and was sent a disk. The disk is imprinted with my name, date: Friday Feb. 1, 2008. Then it has the number of 3.54:14. I don't know if that is a version number, or a time stamp. It looks like time. Any help would be appreciated. I did have a earlier version of 3d, but I can't remember, but I thik it was a version 2.0, or near there. It worked fine, but was limited. Thanks for any help in advance.

You probably should send an email to support@3d-album.com and see if they can help you.

Meanwhile, the current release is 3.29. I don't know what version you downnloaded. You might try this:

1. Make sure that you are using an ID with administrative rights.
2. If you can, redownload another copy of the program. You may have had an incomplete download, so your version won't work.
3. Uninstall your current version.
4. Reinstall again. Don't run it yet.
5. Download the latest update for your version of the product.
6. Install/run the latest update.
7. Start the program up again.

With any luck, someone who has been through a similar problem will jump in with better advice.

Hello, Thanks Bill for your information. I have downloaded the latest version. The disk which I received from 3D is a version 3.27. I down-
loaded version 3.29. The alloted time has expired for another download, but I do have the disk as mentioned above. What happens is this, I can run the demos in the program, but as soon as I go to my particular folder in order to get the photos which I want to use (10) photos, it will show only 5, and then I get the message that the program will close. I have already completed the exact tasks which you provided in your post to no avail. This has been going since I purchased the program. Approx. 10 minutes ago, I procedded to download another driver from NVIDIA to no avail. I will take your advise and submit a e-mail to the support team in hopes that I can get this program running properly. Thanks again.

Jim....Tonopah, Az.

Two things.

First, when I talk about the 3.29 update, I'm talking about going to the 3D-Album home page and then clicking on the "PicturePro and PicturePro Platinum service pack 3.29. " link which is found in the middle column. This is different then downloading the entire program. The update patch never expires, but the download full program would expire.

Second, your problem may be more related to your photo (number six?) then to the program or video card. If so, that would explain why reinstalling doesn't help - because reinstalling does not change the saved settings info that the program uses. Use the following as a guide. You want to delete all the entries (files and folders) in the PERSISTENT folder. The samples should work again. You may need to try and figure out what's wrong with the sixth photo that is causing a problem. You could move it to another folder, delete the two img_vthumb files, and then open up 3D-Album and try again (this is after deleting the PERSISTENT folder contents).

RESETTING STYLES BACK TO DEFAULT VALUES
Sometimes, you'll find that you made a lot of changes to a style (changing colors, images,
backgrounds, text, timing, etc.) and you want to reset everything back to the original default
values. To learn how to do this, see Styler's posting on how to reset style settings back to
their original/default values: http://www.3d-album.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=313. For the
majority of us, you need to find your Documents and Settings folder (try C: ). In the folder,
there should be a folder of the user name you currently used. In the folder, find Application
Data/3D-Album/persistent/style. Delete the style folder. Note that the 3D-Album part of the
name will change slightly depending on which version you have. If you cannot find the
"Documents and Settings" folder, click View>Folder Options. In View tab, check on Show
hidden files and folder. Check off Hide extensions for known types; Check off Hide protected
operating system files. (If you are using the PE edition, you will find a "persistent" folder in
the 3D-Album installation folder. Delete all but settings in the "persistent" folder, all style
settings will go back to the default.) Most 3Dtime settings can be reset by clicking on the
RESET button at right side. Some reset icons can also be found under CAMERA settings (look
in BACKGROUND and PHOTO tabs, etc.). Look for a little icon just to the left of the "make the
image look larger" icon. When your mouse is over it it reads "reset to default position". I
believe it could be reset for each picture. A few settings will require you to edit the style
information (or maybe even delete it), which for 3Dtime styles is found in the 3D-Album
program folder PRESENTATION. For example, to totally reset the scrolling text in
TDTWeddingPS0001 you would go to the ??C:\Program Files\3D-Album-CS\Presentation\3DT
Wedding Show?? folder and delete the PS0001 folder. This would then require you to reload
the style and reapply any updates. NOTE: VISTA users need to use either Desktop\<Your
User Name>\AppData\Roaming or C:\Users\<Your User Name>\AppData\Roaming

Hello Bill, and thanks again for your response. I did find the problem, and I will admit what a dummy I was. The problem was, that I was trying to insert photos into the program with different pixel sizes. Some were in the pixel range of 540x260 (examples), and some were 2228x1760, (example). Once I checked, and deleted the smaller sized photos, and resized the larger to 1024x766 it all started to work fine. All I had to do was READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. I still have a problem with some of the arrangements being jerky while viewing. I believe that if I dig enough I will find the solution for that problem also. Once again, I want to thank you for the helpful responses. As I stated in my last post I did have an earlier version of 3D on my Win95, and never any problems. Why, because I was using scanned photos that were all the same size. I had not been using a digital camera with various settings. I sincerely hope that others will read this post, as it may clear up a lot of problems they're also having. Thanks again. Jim....Tonopah, Az. Laughing [/b]

Sometimes a style is jumpy or jerky because you have enabled the syncronization of the animation timer (4th icon from right at top). Try clicking it to see if it makes a difference. Clicking it will either enable or disable the feature.
