|
|
Hi All,
I'm a new user and am using the Personal Edition. I was intrigued by the Curtain in Movie Show #2 moving depending on the width of the displayed image. Just for Yuks, I created a black image that is 1 pixel wide by 512 pixels high and placed it as the last image in my file. Now the curtain closes completly signifying the end of the show! I also created an image that has text that says "The End" and added it as the next to the last image.

Berniehel,
Thank you for sharing this with us! I think it's a really neat idea. I didn't realize that the curtains moved like you said, as I had always been using images that were the same size.
I'm going to create closing images like you suggested.
You know, instead of just having an image that says "The End", a person could have two-three images that could give ending credits. It wouldn't be quite as nifty as a scrolling credit page, but it would be a good start.
Thanks again. |

Berniehel,
This is just the kind of creativity this is encouraged. Good work.
Most of us that have been long time users of 3D Album, have employed similar techniques. Satisfying, isn't it!
You might also want to give consideration to purchasing a Video Editing program. An editor will allow you to make opening title pages, transitions between clips, narrations, offer better control over background music, end pages, credits, etc., etc., without doing it manually. It takes your 3D Albums to a whole new demension. _________________ Michael Young

Hi,
Thanks. Yes I am evaluating video editing software and started with the link you posted in this forum. I recently purchased a Dazzle DVC80 Capture device to capture old home VHS tapes. It came with Pinnacle QuickStart Studio 8 which is their main product with a lot of tools disabled except that the bugs are not disabled. I'm debating whether or not to pay for an upgrade to Studio 9 or go elswhere. I'm leaning towards Sony Movie Studio its got great reviews and its not buggy like Studio 8 or 9. Anyone have any thoughts?

Whoa!
All I did was close a curtain and I opened up a hornets nest. Back to basics, since I asked the question. I have Studio 8 Quick Start which is limited and it has a known bug where I can't render some AVI files (from my digital camera) because it reports a frame rate error. Fortunately it renders the 3D-Album VAC files. Their website states that a patch will be available by March 15. Haven't seen the patch yet. I downloaded the full trial version and it worked. Also, Studio 9 isn't available for the DVC80 yet and no date when. The forum is full of complaints. The Sony forum, on the otherhand, has very few complaints except that most of the reviews I have read on Amazon and other sites complain that the DVD authoring software is poor and limited. Pricewise an upgrade to Studio 9 by 3-31 is 59.95 and Sony Screenblast at BestBuy is 59.95 after instant savings and rebate (March 27 deadline). I really like the Studio 8/9 GUI but the Sony special effects are much better. So, I'm standing here with my feet firmly planted in mid-air.

berniehel, yeah whoa. ... I went to pinnacles support knowledge page bern?and I found a lot of people are complaining about studio 9 just like me. There support stinks and they still not fixed the problems even with there urgent upgrade. My CD burner won?t work with studio 9 and my computer will freeze up when I try to make a movie. ... What? Is the problem going to fix itself then? We spent the afternoon playing with the trail version of ulead. We could make it work immediately and easily and my CD player works good. No guessing around. It doesn?t freeze up neither. We got studio 9 at best buy to. I am taking it back tonight with some of these messages and the ones from pinnacles site and try and get our money back to.

Thanks for your input. I actually have a solution to my dilemma. On Saturday I e-mailed Pinnacle about when the March 15 fixed would be available as well as the 9.1 release for my DVC80. I was also annoyed with them because the DVC80 was designed to capture analog video from a VCR and they disabled any abillity to clean up these videos after capture which is available in the full version. These videos are copiies of old 8mm film home movies that I want to put into the 3D Album movie show and they require some work. I received an immediate canned response suggesting various places to go on there website and was promised a 48 hour direct response to my questions (excluding weekends). If I don't get an answer by Thursday (that's 96 hours) I'll know what to do.

Yes, I agree. I originally posted a tip/idea and it looks like it got out of hand. Was this a good place to have the idea? I'm working on a soccer ball image for the sports album and would like to know where I can share it when its done. Might be a little while, its tricky.

Berniehel,
The "Gallery" or "Theme Challenges" would be a good place to share your presentations and/or custom images. This part of the forum doesn't get many contributions, but is never-the-less the appropriate category.
We look forward to seeing your work.
