I posted this response under a different topic for a 3D Album user. You may also find this information very helpful when finding or choosing your background music.

There is a wide selection of FREE MIDI files on the internet. Here is one such site that enables you to search for a particular song or band: http://www.musicrobot.com/

Copyright issues with most midi files are for now, still a grey area. Popular music that has been personally interpreted by these music artists, using their keyboard synthesizers (midi), is often (though not always), excluded from copyright lawsuits because of the changes made.

Also, many music artist's make their original music available for a free download on personal midi sites.

3D Album must use MP3 or WAV files to complete a video DVD burn. Therefore, you must use a Midi to Mp3 or, Midi to Wav conversion utility to take advantage of this music file format. These utilities are usually inexpensive ($25-$30), and are well worth the cost.

Not all midi file converters are created equal. MP3 files are highly compressed and the highs and lows of a particular selection may be lost during conversion. If you want a good quality MP3 file, you should first convert to a .wav file, or use a utility that gives you the flexibility to do this in one step.

Our studio uses numerous sound utilities. We create and convert our own midi files, or download free midi files because they make great background music (without vocals), and this often works best for video productions.

The best midi converter I found is Midi2Wav.

Here is a link to the site where you can purchase this product. You will find information that explains the different type of formats that can be possible, including MP3.
